Is there anywhere on your site to file a complaint. I am tired of losing 1/4 stick of product because it breaks away from the holder. After 30 years guess I’ll look for another company. JLB

I love Old Spice Classic cologne and hope that you will consider packaging it in glass bottles with the old fashioned clipper ship like it used to be (at least every once in a while for nostalgia sake). I’ve been a loyal customer of Old Spice since the Shulton days and miss the traditional design. I do not care for the new plastic thing with the red stopper at all, sorry.

I just purchased the Game Day bodywash and AP/Deo. I love it!!! But…when can we expect to see the fragrance / cologne version???

  • Posted by: kyle on June 22, 2009 at 6:44am #

is their a reason why old spice causes arm pit rash this has to be the worst deodorant I have ever used.

  • Posted by: admin on June 22, 2009 at 10:09am #

    Matt-
Game Day rocks and I actually use it too! Right now we don’t have any plans to make a fragrance or cologne scent from Game Day BUT I will definitely pass along your idea. I will keep you posted if anything changes.
    Thanks for your input

    Jim,

Thanks for the response. I think a Game Day body spray would be the bomb! But unitl then, I’ll just stick with Pure Sport.

    Keep up the great work.

I love Old Spice Classic. But, being Black, I have to put on lotion after I shower. I just hate having to cover up the Old Spice smell with lotion. Can Old Spice make a lotion?

  • Posted by: Kenneth on June 27, 2009 at 12:22pm #

I agree with Ken, we as loyal customers should have the glass bottle option for the “Classic.” I used to make fun of it. Now, at 42, I just bought my first bottle. I’ve received more compliments and “what are you wearing?” in two weeks than I ever have with my $70 Kenneth Cole Black.

Thanks for the tip… we will look into and who knows? Maybe one day you will see something like an Old Spice lotion.

Lance, you have to pay a decent amount of cabbage for a good “unscented” body lotion.

  • Posted by: David on July 9, 2009 at 8:21am #

I agree with Matt 100%, on the Game Day body spray. I was actually just looking to see if Old Spice made a body spray in the Game Day scent. I was very disappointed to find that they have not made one yet. This scent has to be one of my favorite scents by far.

I AM FROM PHILIPPINES, & I AM JUST ASKING WHERE CAN I BUY YOUR PRODUCT FOR PERSONAL CONSUMPTION. I BEEN USING IT SINCE MY AUNT SEND IT FOR PACKAGE FROM U.S., & I ASK MY GIRLFRIEND NOW MY WIFE TO BUY ME IN MANILA BUT ITS HARD TO FIND IN MALLS & SUPERMARKETS, BY THE WAY THANK FOR PRODUCING THE PRODUCT. IT GIVES A LOT OF CONFIDENCE IN ME

  • Posted by: admin on July 13, 2009 at 6:21am #

Thanks for reaching out to us! Right now, we do not have a large amount of Old Spice available in the Phillipines. Your best bet might be to have your aunt send you some from the US. Keep your confidence up with Old Spice!

I agree with the Game Day cologne!!! It is BY FAR my favorite scent from Old Spice. I cannot seem to get enough of it. (And my wife doesn’t mind either!)

    Please offer Gameday Cologne ASAP!!!

  • Posted by: Matt on July 20, 2009 at 4:35pm #

I used to be able to get Old Spice “Soothing Lotion”, please bring that back, it was great after shaving. Also, the Old Spice Razors by Universal Shaving are great but hard to find. My pharmacy says they sell out immediately when they get them. Can you help with more supply?

What about Old Spice/Tony Stewart automotive products, like motor oil, and other consumer automotive stuff?

What about Old Spice buying a pharmacy chain and calling it “Old Spice Apothecary”.

Old Spice products are the best!

I am looking all over for the CLASSIC old spice body spray – can I order it directly from your company? If not, is it still being made and where can I purchase it? I have used ths product for years and am having great difficulty finding it in any store lately. Thank You.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we have discontinued Old Spice Classic Body Spray. We are looking into bringing back our Classic scent but right now there are not any immediate plans to have it on shelf. We love your Old Spice loyalty and our Pure Sport body spray is closest to the old Classic scent.

I’ve used Old Spice since my high school days in the late 1960’s, but I’ve always wanted to have the original classic scent made in a spray. Any way possible you could make an aerosol spray in the original scent? I’d buy cases of it if you did. Thanks!

    HI Jim,
I have been a faithful user of Old Spice aftershave and cologne for over 40 years…I always get compliments on the fragrance but I do miss the old glass bottles…does the company ever plan on introucing some limited editions in the old glass bottles from tiem to time?…I hav e actually saved some of my glass bottles and transfer the aftershave and cologne into them.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Posted by: Patrick on July 27, 2009 at 9:30pm #

Why would you discontinue the Classic Body Spray? That scent is your mainstay and should be available in every line you produce. I used to buy several cans whenever I saw it just to make sure I always had some. I can’t find it anywhere now. The Pure Sport is the closest scent to it but nowhere as nice as the Classic scent. Listen to your loyal customers and bring the Classic scent body spray back!

  • Posted by: admin on July 28, 2009 at 2:44pm #

Gotta love the Old Spice loyalty – thanks!!! We’ve talked about bringing back the classic scent in body spray but right now there aren’t any immeadiate plans on the horizon. Stay tuned to the website to see if it returns.

We love the way you think… we have discussed the limited edition idea and will continue to throw it around for something in the future. We keep hearing about the nostalgia from the glass bottles – maybe you will see them again one day.
    Take care

I cannot believe you’re getting rid of the Classic Scent spray. I’ve been using Old Spice all my adult life, and none of the other scents is anything as good as the classic. This has “New Coke” written all over it. Please reconsider.

  • Posted by: Scott on August 6, 2009 at 12:28am #

I too am EXTREMELY disapointed to hear that you’ve discontinued your classic scent body spray. I fell in love with that scent because my Grandfather used your cologne. I also loved your shaving soap.

    Hi,

I became an admirer of Old Spice even when I was only 9. Those days in my home in India we used to have B&W TV and there was an ad for Old Spice Aftershave featuring a man surfing and the face of a beautiful lady. I used to run to see that ad whenever it was shown. I am a fan from those days. My first aftershave was Old Spice Classic. I really like the hot spicy fragrance.

I have a request. I want to see those old ads again. I searched youtube but was not able to get the ones I was looking for. Can you please upload them in youtube or your own site?

  • Posted by: admin on August 10, 2009 at 2:26pm #

I will see if we have any archives with the old videos but I can’t make any promises. If we can find them, we will certainly upload to the internet. Thanks for being a loyal Old Spice user.

hi my name is ryan and im from the philippines and way back in 1997 a relative from the u.s. visited us and gave me an old spice deo. i cant really remember what scent it was exactly but if i got it right, it was an old spice redzone “MUSK”? it’s a stick and the case was colored red and the stick is colored blue. was there ever a “MUSK” scent old spice? because i could not really remember what that was. ive been looking for a musk old spice stick for years. been through a lot of stores from the philippines, hongkong, singapore, thailand to look for that scent but no luck at all please help me or at least give me info that there was really an old spice musk or maybe i just got it wrong. but the last time i remember, that was the best deo i ever had and i was in high school back then.that was the time i met my girlfriend who is now my wife.maybe old spice gave me an edge over some guys trying to get her attention, hahaha.ive been desperately trying to find that deo but for 10 years i havent found it yet. please help… i have been using old spice deos ever since but just the scent thats available in the store. thanks

  • Posted by: admin on August 17, 2009 at 10:56am #

    Ryan
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we have never sold an Old Spice ‘musk’ scent. The blue stick you are referring to is the the Red Zone Deodorant form but we don’t carry that specific scent. Your best bet is to try and smell the different scents but some of our best selling Red Zone Deodorant scent are After Hours, Swagger and Pure Sport. We are always happy to hear that Old Spice is ‘wife approved’!!!

    Thanks for your loyalty

    Hi,

What happened to the Old Spice Classic spray? I can’t find it anywhere, I have tried at least 15 stores in the last two weeks (Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, WalMart) in the Los Angeles Area without success. I don’t like the other scents, i.e Swagger, Pure Sport etc., I have been told that the Classic scent has been discontinued, if that is true I have to question the judgement of your Marketing Dept.

  • Posted by: admin on August 27, 2009 at 6:11am #

Old Spice Classic Body Spray has been discontinued. We have heard from our loyal consumers that they definitely miss the scent so we will look into bringing it back. No promises but stay tuned for any updates in the future.

  • Posted by: admin on August 31, 2009 at 6:11am #

We do still sell OS – a cologne spray- at limited retailers like CVS and Walgreens. I am not sure if this is the cologne you are referencing. Thanks for your note.

I received my first bottle of Old Spice shaving lotion or cologne for Christmas more than a half century ago (I think it was 1956). My Dad had used it forever before.
It seems the Classic in plastic bottles smells different. I read somewhere on the internet that the formula had changed to accommodate the plastic bottles. Has the formula changed? Can the plastic impart a slightly different fragrance?
I would pay more for the original glass bottle. Over the years I drifted off to Aqua Velva and Englixh Leather (ugh!) but always went back to Old Spice. Maybe I should try Aqua Velva in glass bottles again.

The Classic cologne ingredients list has not changed – the only change was as you noted to the plastic bottle. All of our product research showed that the plastic bottle did not affect the smell of the cologne. Thanks for your input and we hope that you continue to use Old Spice.

You have never sold an Old Spice Musk scent??? Are you sure you are talking about Old Spice? I used to use both the cologne AND the deodorant in Old Spice Musk. I believe the stick was actually an amber color.
You are really missing out on some sales there. Bring it back!!!

  • Posted by: admin on September 3, 2009 at 7:29am #

    Mike
Old Spice Musk may have been sold prior to P&G taking over the Old Spice brand. I believe in the late 70’s there may have been a scent called musk but we have not offered that scent for a while. Thanks for the clarification!

I too miss the old glass bottle for Old Spice After Shave and hope you’ll bring it back real soon. Been using it for over 40 years “inherited” from my father! Bring back the glass!!

What exactly are the fragrances in today’s Old Spice Classic After Shave?

  • Posted by: John on September 10, 2009 at 8:25pm #

I have been an Old Spice semi-solid user for the past 10yrs. I have typically only used Aqua Reef and Mountain Rush. However, both of these scents are no longer available. I live in the Houston area, but I travel nationally and cannot find this deoderant anymore for the past eight months, or so.

All that is available is Fresh, Sport, Swagger, Showtime, or After Hours. Were Aqua Reef and Mountain Rush discontinued in the semi-solid?

  • Posted by: Diana on September 10, 2009 at 8:26pm #

My husband used Old Spice musk stick from the early 1980’s until it was discontinued in 1999. I wrote the company to try and get it b/c I really loved his scent when he wore it but the company told me it had been discontinued but up until a week before I contacted them they had left over musks but had just run out. I keep hoping it will be brought back. I don’t quite understand why someone called the “old spice team” doesn’t seem to know about it but there is no doubt that it was sold and that it was a special scent.

  • Posted by: William Potter on September 12, 2009 at 12:13pm #

I was a loyal OS user for years but the recent plastic bottle business and classic spray discontinuation has pretty much ended it for me. I have found a good supplier of Spice scented shaving soaps online and found that many of the store brand “spice” aftershaves smell as much like Shulton’s product as the current P&G. Maybe if the clipper ship is returned and the glass bottles come back I would consider buying the OS products again.

  • Posted by: Joe on September 13, 2009 at 5:30pm #

    Bring back classic body spray.

  • Posted by: admin on September 14, 2009 at 6:31am #

We have not discontinued Aqua Reef in the High Performance Solid (semi-solid) but Mountain Rush is no longer available. We have been told by other consumers that Swagger has been a great new scent added to the lineup. You might be able to give that a shot and hopefully it meets your needs.
    Thanks – Old Spice Team

  • Posted by: admin on September 14, 2009 at 6:34am #

I am sorry for the confusion. The Old Spice musk scent has not be sold for a while but was once available. We no longer make a ‘musk’ scent but we do use muskier fragrances in our deodorants.
    Thanks!

  • Posted by: admin on September 14, 2009 at 6:43am #

We are sorry to have lost you from the Old Spice brand. We can not make any promises that these scents will be back but thanks for your input. If you get a chance, you could always check out the Original scented deodorant and invisible solid from Old Spice.
    Thanks – Old Spice Team

Sorry to tell you that my husband (a 40 year customer) and his father (a 70 year customer) both insist that the Classic fragrance in the plastic bottle does indeed smell different. We didn’t know until today (after trips to about 10 different stores in the Chicago area) that you’d discontinued the glass bottles and changed the name. A pity. Some things should be left alone and not “improved” on. The plastic bottles cheapen the product and augment the fragrance. Not sure who thought this was a good idea…probably the new marketing guy brought over from P&G. You know what they say…guys like that have to p*ss on it to make it their own.

Your previous commenter was right. You all seemed to have missed the New Coke case study in biz school!

After reading all the excuses from your company I am compelled to add my dissatisfaction with your new marketing and decisions to change your product line.
I really felt cheated when I could no longer find
Old Spice Original After Shave and Old Spice Shaving Cream on any of the shelves near my home or my vacation home. Especially the shaving
cream, I’ve always had to hunt for anyway.
Old Spice team is code for “Look at us, we know better than our customers, try it.” I have and I do not like it.
You have lost a 45 year team member.
Good Luck with your mega marketing campaign
    P&G.
Please let me know where you have dispersed your old inventory, I want to stock up on as much as I can.

I too am upset about the discontinuation of Mountain Rush. It was the only scent I used. Anything comparable to it?

  • Posted by: Austin on September 20, 2009 at 7:47pm #

I have been using old spice products since I was 12 years old. I am now a sophomore in college and continue to use old spice.

I am a big fan of the swagger line of products, they are probably my favorite scent. I also really enjoy the Classic line. I am planning on trying the game day line as well because I have heard rave reviews about it.

I do have some questions/suggestions. First off, where can I find swagger body spray? I live in Michigan, and have not been able to find it at any stores (Wal-Mart, Meijers, Rite-Aid.) Second, why on earth was the classic spray discontinued? it was your best spray, and I’m sure it was a high seller as well. I have seen a number of complaints on this page about classic being discontinued. I strongly urge (and I’m sure I speak on behalf of many) P&G to consider putting it back on the market. Get rid of pure sport and start selling classic spray again!

  • Posted by: admin on September 21, 2009 at 5:56am #

Swagger body spray can typically be found in most retailers like Walmart and other various drug stores. I am surprised that you have been unable to find it but I would keep looking or ask your local Walmart when they will have it restocked?

Thanks for your input on the Classic body spray. There are no immediate plans to bring it back but we will let you know if we have any change of plans.

Bring back the Old Items, such as Body Talc,Soap On A Rope.
New items like lotion,shampoo/conditioner,face balm- in the origional / classic scent.
Do so before you disenfranchise the rest of your loyal customers that followed the brand to P & G!

as a faithful old spice consumer for years, i must say that P&G is on the WRONG path with old spice products discontinuing all my favorite old spice products over the years. most recently, old spice cologne SPRAY, and before that FRESH LIME PRODUCTS which now sell on ebay for a FORTUNE, body powder, shaving mug refills, etc. because of this STUPIDITY, i now purchase body powder, lather shave, and other GOOD old spice products from SHULTON overseas. goodbye proctor and gamble- thanks for ruining old spice!

I took the time to read the ad that started this blog.
Where I agree that Old Spice is an affordable product that has been around for quite some time; I dont agree with the P & G strategy to remarket the name, with fragrance’s that have yet to past the test of time!
Old Spice is where its at today because of the Origional / Classic Spice scent!
Throwing out the variety of fragrance’s will only serve to confuse the consumer as to;” what is the real deal”.
The mystique that sets Old Spice aside from the other affordable competitors; was the sailor connection that tied the ships on the bottle,to the wanderer or seaman within us all!
Is it just me,or has anybody else thought of the traditional Old Spice bottles, with the 3 masted ships and how they resemble scrimshaw on a whales tooth ?
I think its a shame to take a product and disenfranchise so many of the loyal customers in an attempt to draw in a trendy age bracket of people, who change their interest in products like the changing of the seasons.
Pirates of The Carribean / movies, drew many of us towards summer vacations to explore the islands for ourselves.
Today, one will find programs on The Discovery Channel such as : Whale Wars, The Deadliest Catch, and Swords:Life On The Line.
I know all my pals at work are watching these shows, and wondering if it would be profitable to switch carears?
Come on P & G ! If it aint broke – dont try to fix it!

The best bet is to search amazon or google for the particular scent. We do not currently have inventory from the discontinued item.

I agree with several other posts, I don’t like the new line of products, I want Mountain Rush put back on the shelves it’s the only scent that I like. If that is not possibe then I will have to kick Old Spice to the curb. The new Product line is not even comparable, swagger smells like a cheap perfume. I have been severely disappointed that Mountain Rush was discontinued, and that it took five months or better to remove it from the website.

Can you bring back Mountain Rush body wash? It is all I ever used and was disappointed to see that it has been discontinued.

You might want to give our latest scent ‘Gameday’ a try… there are some similarities to the old Mountain Rush and we think you might like it.

    Enjoy and Thanks

We have heard a lot of positive feedback on our new scent ‘Gameday’ and it is quickly becoming a top performing scent for Old Spice. Although Mountain Rush is no longer available, we think you may enjoy the new Gameday scent.

PLEASE bring back Classic body spray. It is Old Spice’s signature scent–it is a fresh clean scent that is not over powering like many these days. I have used the under arm original scent anti-perspirant/deodorant but it does not have the same effect as with the body spray.

Is there ever a chance that mountain rush will be available in the future? Nothing else compares!

  • Posted by: John on October 8, 2009 at 8:41am #

I agree what P&G has done to Old Spice is a shame. They come up with a new scent monthly, but at the end of the day they all smell almost identical. They need to bring back the classic stuff that smelled WAY better instead of trying to market themselves to only the teens and 20 somethings.

Has Pure Sport after shave been discontinued? Smooth Blast after shave? I can’t find them in stores in NJ…

  • Posted by: joe on October 9, 2009 at 7:56pm #

I got to know old spice mountain rush when i was in the states (2002-2003). Ever since I told my friends to supply me with new mountain rush when they went to the over. It was already bad enough that I could not buy it in Germany, and now even worse you stoped producing. What a shame!

  • Posted by: Dan on October 10, 2009 at 10:52am #

Please consider doing a line of “nostalgia” products…Shulton formula glass bottle after shave, cologne, shaving talc and the shaving soap. I think this would enhance the strength of the Old Spice brand. The buzz generated by a limited edition release around the holidays would be phenomenal.

    Dear Old Spice
I have been using Mountain Rush Red Zone High Performance Solid since it came out in the RedZone Line over 10 years ago. I got a Tony Stewart sample at a Nascar event and became hooked. I really loved tha it smelled very close to Obsession and my wife loved it too;) For the las year in a half it has been disapperring! I would drive from store to store and buy whatever was left, NOW ITS GONE! RIP Mountain Rush! I understand you are trying to get people to switch to a new scent called Game Day but at this time it is not available in the Red Zone High Performance Line. I am confused why you would take away a scent and leave the users confused and looking for a replacement. At least when when a software company does a upgrade they try to get you to buy it, I’m still not trying Window Vista!! Anyway, I will try Game Day but would love a case of Mountain Rush if there is anything left, my Love life depends on it!

I’ve used Old Spice Classic cologne in the spray bottle since the early 70’s. I also use the classic high endurance deodorant. It works great for tennis and bicycling. I also use the liquid soap, like it too. Now, you’re telling me I have to slop the stuff all over my hands if I want to use the cologne. Can’t you at least offer a reusable spray bottle and sell liquid refills? I will only use spray cologne. If I have to change that, I might as well change evreything else. Thanks for shafting a long time customer.

How about bringing back the soap on a rope and the classic bottle of after shave during the Christmas season for us old timers, who have supported you for many many years. It’s not like we don’t have the money to spend, and there’s still a lot of us still around.

  • Posted by: Lev on October 17, 2009 at 4:28pm #

It’s amusing to read this blog to see how badly the public wants certain products, and then how much the “Old Spice Team” responds with a university-trained “No”.

There is a theme here that I think OS marketing totally ignores: Old Spice products are appealing because it is associated with being a man. You feel a lot less cool when aftershave comes in a plastic bottle. Over the years, OS has indeed become less cool, less heterosexual, and that’s why people want the old products back.

If you don’t believe me, you should see how much money the old products command on Ebay.

I’m really upset that I can’t find Aqua Reef in the High Performance Solid form. I see here that you haven’t discontinued it, but I can’t find it anywhere anymore. I tried the new Swagger scent, as was suggested here, but it is extremely strong. Aqua Reef was a very mild, pleasant scent that never overpowered anything.

And I live in fairly large metropolis, over one million people. Can’t find Aqua Reef anywhere at all. At this rate, it might as well have been discontinued. There really aren’t any Old Spice scents that aren’t strong now, which is too bad, because I have really liked how the High Performance Solid performs.

Yet another vote for bringing back the Classic body spray. I like having all the necessaries in one scent – I still have some OS shaving cream, the body gel, the aftershave… the body spray rather completed the package.

I just found out Mountain Rush is discontinued, and would like to add another vote for bringing that scent back. That’s all I’ve used for years, due to skin sensitivity to certain deodorants. This news is disappointing.

  • Posted by: Megan on October 23, 2009 at 10:14am #

I am really sad that you discontinued the Mountain Rush deodorant. I LOVE the way my boyfriend smells and I am so sad that he won’t smell the same anymore. Has anyone tried the gameday scent? Does it actually smell similar to the mountain rush?

  • Posted by: A. Doubleton on October 24, 2009 at 11:08am #

Why would P&G/Old Spice discontinue the Classic scent, the VERY BRAND RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS SUCCESS??? I’m sick and tired of corporations forcing its loyal customers into a “new and improved” product because some hack marketing research report suggested higher profitability. Abercrombie & Fitch did the same thing with its Woods cologne. We, the consumers, helped you build a brand, P&G/Old Spice; thanks for the slap in the face.

  • Posted by: Zee on October 24, 2009 at 3:24pm #

I’ve used Mountain Rush for years and I usually buy 4-5 sticks at a time. I’m running low and looked at several stores just to find out that it’s discontinued…it was the best scent on the market. I’ve heard about Game Day and Swagger but they really don’t compare. Please bring MR back.

I love the old Old Spice bottle. What’s up with the new plastic one? It both looks and feels cheap. I hope you guys haven’t changed the scent as well, but I wouldn’t know because I’m not buying the new plastic bottle. Recently, I bought Aqua Velva for the first time just because of the bottle. Please go back to the old, traditional bottle and don’t worry about Axe and those guys. Make less of it (Old Spice) if money is an issue. Those of us who love it will seek it out where it can be found in that case, but whatever you do – go back before it’s too late.

    Sincerely,

How can a company in the time of green eliminate a glass bottle. Glass is the only 100% product that can be recycled over and over. I guess P&G is not interested in being green or in that matter satisfying its customers. Why do you change things that work. Oh wait I know, you know what we want more than we do. So count this guy a 25yr customer and my father a 50yr customer gone. Plastic changes the smell, whether you like to admit it or not. That is like saying keg beer is no different than can beer. Aqua Velva her we come. Those of you looking for Musk scent Aqua Velva has that to in GLASS.

I thought I would take the time drop a comment. I will do both a negative and positive.

First, the negative. Really, you guys in marketing need to start listening to your customer base. You have people clamoring for original Shulton ingredient shaving soap, soap on a roap, and glass aftershave bottles. Your customer base is yelling at you for this product. Many of them (myself included) are not even asking for mass distribution, simply a holiday classic set with the classic designs and ORIGINAL scents. There are many shaving forums on the net discussing these products on a semi daily basis, 20 year old shaving soap pucks are selling for a fortune on ebay, and (whether your lab agrees with it or not) people want the glass back. What’s even more disappointing is that I hear that the aftershave is still sold in the glass containers in places like England and India.

You acquired a winner when you acquired Shulton, now get back to producing it in a way that made it a winner. I do not know how you read statistics, but I am guessing that for every person that takes the time to write on a page like this there are more than a few that don’t. Please listen to what your customers are begging for.

On a positive note, I do use the Old Spice high endurance fresh and it works great. I was also OVERJOYED to walk to the deodorant aisle the other day and find the Old Spice Stick Classic scent (the green colored deoderant). Although it is not in the white container I knew and loved as a teen and doesn’t seem to have as round of a head as I remember it having, I was still happy to see it and snatched up a couple. I love this stuff. Kudos on this one. Note that this may have been back on shelves for a while, but due to infatuation with the fresh I failed to notice it.

In closing, please please and one more time PLEASE do a holiday run of the classics with soap, soap on a rope, and after shave. Yes, that includes that old timey ship that has been pushed to the wayside. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts, request, and praise.

p.s. It would also be really cool to have U.S. distribution of your tubed shave cream. Widely available in India but not here?

Given P&G has chosen to get rid of one of its core products in the Mens line and after many requests in the blog to correct the mistakes, they have chosen to be arrogant and non-committal at best, I believe its time for me to return the favor and toss out the remainder of the P&G products in this household. You got me hooked for 9 years and than yank the product and leave me with nothing! Nothing! Nothing even close! What a shame! I”ve been using it for 9 years and now you’ve lost a customer and from what it looks like on this site may, many more feel the same. BOOO to you P&G & Old Spice!

    Hey Eddie,
I know what you mean about lasting all day long!
After giving it some thought, I wondered if one of the secret ingrediants was “ambergris”
That was one of the perfume products obtained from the days of whaling.
Which was halted here in this country in 1972.
I wonder how long supplies of that ingrediant was used after the whaling industry was shut down? Or if its still supplied through other countries that still harvest Sperm Whales?
They probably have found a substitute that doesnt work as well!

  • Posted by: David Mcknight on November 22, 2009 at 10:49pm #

I think you’ve got that all wrong!
Your most popular scent based on HOW LONG its been around is what we all call “Origional”
    and what you call “Classic”!
Theres been plenty of faithful customers who have held on for more years than anything else you’ve put on the shelf with the Old Spice moniker attached to it!
Despite ignoring our requests for placing this “Icon of a Mens Toiletry Item” at the HIGHEST, of all your available fragrances; you seem more interested in pushing a new fragrance that has yet to survive the years that the Origional Old Spice has lived up to!
Thats like taking your grandpappy out in the alley and say: “Heres your new status in life!”
“We dont want people to think about YOU,when they think about US!”
You Guys need to rethink about what YOUR destoying!

Well, the cat is finally out of the bag … after considerable effort I found out that the Old Spice Spray Cologne was discontinued some time during 2008. The Old Spice (OS) line is spread out all over the stores I shop. It needs to be in one place like it used to be and if you were to do this I think you would see sales improve. I’d love to have some direct dialogue with the OS marketing genious that has been changing everything at OS i.e., plastic bottles and muted red packaging just don’t cut it. It seems that OS has become a company with a thousand fragrances … the old shotgun approach. OS you are missing the target and loosing your loyal customer base. If I did to my business what you have done to your business I’d be out of business. Shame on you.

  • Posted by: David Mcknight on November 26, 2009 at 9:14am #

    Kudo’s to you Joe!
Your right about that “shotgun effect”!
After P & G de-emphaisizes The Origional / Classic by phasing out what people wanted or liked about it!
Those loyal customers will disappear like the mountain- rush fans!
It doesnt make sense why someone would be put in charge of a Company Icon, then allowed to destroy it, in an attempt to re-invent a product line?
I know I dont need Ms Cleo or Silvia Brown to figure out what thats going to do for the future of Old Spice!

    HO! HO! HO!
    hmmm?
Well its Black Friday in our neck of the woods, and folks are out spending money and looking for early Xmas gifts for loved ones.
We started at WalMart but I didnt make my way to the toiletry section.
By the time we hit Target, low and behold on an endcap was Old Spice 5 item gift sets / including “The Deck Scrubber”. The bad thing, it was only available in Swagger and Pure Sport; with the key item being the Body Spray that P & G discontinued in The “Classic” line. hmm?
    Anywho,
Cant begin to tell ya how many folks on this blog has asked for “The Classic” Multi-item gift
sets; WITH the “Classic Body Spray”. I did find a “Deck Scrubber” for sale by itself!
Moving over to WalGreens on a hunch,I did find a pair of 2 item “Classic Gift Set”. One was the Aftershave & Cologne, the other which I got was the Cologne & Deoderant. The box was of simple design and the deo /stick seem to have a special label that resembled the body wash.Something
that i havent seen used on normal shelf items.
I guess a 2 item gift set is all “us” Classic lovers can expect this Xmas? hmm?
Our final stop of The Tour For The Old Spice Gift Sets was CVS. There we did not find any OS Gift Sets at all!
I know its been suggested that P & G claims to know what everyone wants; but I didnt see that on the shelf today!
I thought this website was to keep loyal customers up to date with new products and I would assume seasonal ones as well?
But I guess that isnt the case is it?
Ive read that loyal fans of OS have questioned honesty issues with P & G when it comes to weither the formula has been changed or not. How are we to believe anything when we have to find out things on our own?
False promises about including our requests for “sometime in the future” can only last so long, then one is unable to believe it at all!
    Merry Xmass!

After a year of looking at various stores trying to find some place that sells Old Spice original in the glass bottles, I found this site and see that it’s gone on purpose. Bad boy. Bad, bad boy! This plastic bottle stuff has no class and doesn’t even smell the same. For over 40 years Old Spice has been a morning event to be experienced. Now it’s blaaz.

Here’s another vote for bringing back the Mountain Rush scent. It’s all I’ve used for probably 8 years or better. I’ve tried a couple other scents, but my skin just doesn’t like them. It’d certainly be much appreciated if you could re-launch Mountain Rush. No marketing $$ required, just put it back on the shelves and it’ll sell … and based on the comments on this page, quite well at that! Thanks.

A few years ago I purchased old stock Old Spice Body Talc on Ebay.
Not only did the powder retain the scent. but there was no indication of expired shelf life. This is not always the case with the aerosol shaving cream or the liquid aftershave & cologne.
This was just another fine product that Shulton produced and is well worth searching for!
Of course it would be nice if P & G would reissue it in the “Origional / Classic” line!

Ahhh! No mountain rush soft solid anymore!?! Bad move. I’ve been searching for weeks and now this confirms the worst.
I’ll be dreaming of a mountain rush soft solid christmas.

Old Spice Musk For Men was a great after shave and cologne. I wore it often in the 80’s then it began to disappear from store shelves. It was very affordable, lasted all day, and I received a myriad of compliments on it. In fact I still have old friends asking me about what the stuff I wore back then was. Another YES vote and request to bring back the great stuff! I currently use your swagger products and like them, but the musk you offered back then was unbeatable.

    Allright P & G,
I checked with Santa and he said there was still plenty of time left to come out with a cool “Classic” 5 or 6 item multi-giftset of Old Spice Classic/Origional fragrance.
It might include both Aftershave and Cologne, one or two varieties of Deoderant,Body Wash, and last but not least a Deck Scrubber!
Lets bring in the New Year with a “Classic Tradition of Xmas Giving”.
    For “Old” time sake!

    Hello from Canada

My husband has recently become an Old Spice fan and enjoys the memories it evokes from his youth.
Unfortunately now that he has become a dedicated user of your products, the ones he likes best are impossible to find.
Why would you discontinue a great product like Old Spice “Classic” body spray?
Every where I look on the internet I see men asking the same question so he’s not the only one who is wishing this product was still available.
Is there any chance you are considering bringing this scent back?
There are examples of the “Classic” product on the internet for sale, but the body spray has proven very difficult to find.
Any suggestions for locating this product for purchase?
Please, Please reconsider discontinuing this product, my man has never smelled so wonderful and although there are other products that are pleasant enough, there’s nothing like the “Classic” scent of an Old Spice man.
    Thanks for listening.
    Patricia

I just happened to this line by accident. I have been an old spice consumer for years. In the past few years those products have disappeared, or become harder to find, or have changed containers to a cheap-feeling plasitc thing. I miss the talc and the soap-on-a-rope. I find shocking this site with so many consumers asking a producer to produce a product that was successful for so many years. I sense, given the responses from the Old Spice Team, that these pleas will not be answered. So team, here is a new questions for you. Is there an address, hard copy or electronic, that will get our message to the right people at P and G? Really all you have to do is tell me their names and I can do the rest. Would you not love to read messages next year from us thanking you for producing what we want and complimenting your responsiveness to our needs? You help us and we will help you an din turn we will help P and G sell more product. The next stpe is yours.

Mountain rush..another plea to bring it back. Was it really that bad of a seller?…. always had the biggest dent in the shelved in Madison…. I’ve been loyal, but now it’s anyone’s game.

  • Posted by: Adam on December 7, 2009 at 6:01am #

Feel free to e-mail me ONLY when the original old spice in the GLASS bottle returns. Until then, I will move on to something else, which is such a shame. There is a reason why P&G bought OS. Because it was a great product that had customer loyalty. But with the bean counters at P&G squeezing more profit out of a product by cheapening it, then I am afraid you will lose what took plenty of years to build. Listen to your customers and bring back the original! There is a lot of feedback on here about it and that should speak volumes considering the average person doesn’t take the time to contact a company about past products. Many more are obviously thinking this, then what you read here. Enough from me, but I hope you soon see the light. Over and out!

  • Posted by: Joe on December 7, 2009 at 1:07pm #

BRING BACK MOUNTAIN RUSH! Isn’t it obvious from the number of comments posted on here that your customers are extremely disappointed with you? You keep telling them to try another product. Why don’t you try listening to your CUSTOMERS INSTEAD OF ASKING THEM TO LISTEN TO YOU?

  • Posted by: Kari on December 7, 2009 at 8:43pm #

I would like Old Spice to bring back the Whitewater cologne spray. My husband loved it and so did I. I found one bottle on ebay for 36.00 which is 4 times the normal price.

Just a foot note to my Black Friday Gift Set observation.
I had observed 5 & 6 item gift sets for sale at Target on Black Friday. They were only offered in Pure Sport and Swagger.
Today we revisited the same store and saw that between the 2 fragrances offered, the Pure Sport gift sets had sold out, where it looked like the Swagger gift sets hadnt sold at all!
This doesnt speak well of what the Old Spice team has been suggesting for people to try.
As much as consumers have begged for OS to bring back The Body Spray in Old Spice Classic/Origional. With The Body Spray being the common item in both gift sets along with the Deck Scrubber.
Its too bad that the Classic / Origional wasnt offered in the 5 to 6 item multi-gift set.
Maybe P & G would have sold more this season!

Mountain Rush was excellent. I have spent a fortune over the years trying different scents. GameDay may be “close” to Mountain Rush but when it comes to the sense of smell, even a small difference in scent causes a huge gap in personal preference. I have tried GameDay (actually the whole line of deodorants scents) multiple times and nothing comes close to the olfactory connection with mountain Rush.

I want to buy the body spray GAME DAY but I didn’t find. If it’s because it doesn’t exist just please create that!!!! the scent is very good on my boyfriend after his shower….! ;)

For every holiday we buy my Dad Oldspice cologne and aftershave, the only problem is that he only uses the Original Scent, and he hates the splash on cologne. We’ve been lucky enough to find the spray cologne for the past few years, but this holiday season it has been harder than ever. Have you discontinued the Original Scent cologne spray bottle? And I’m not talking about the OS Signature, just the regular Original Scent cologne that matches the after shave, but in a spray bottle not the splash on. Please let me know where I can find it if it’s still available, even if I have to buy it in bulk!! Thank you so much :)

With your Old Spice Cologne I implore you to Please bring back the original formula and glass bottle. I find the added powdery diaper scent a little out of the Old Spice character I remember; And the glass bottle just adds to old spice’s traditional flare and dignity in an affordable package. Glass is also perfect in preserving the aromatic integrity of cologne. Thanks

I am now just learning that you have discontinued the Classic body spray. There are not enough expletives to explain the reasoning behind this move. I know there is still Cologne Classic (I hope)
but I used the body spray in place of the cologne. As it says on the can, THE ORIGINAL. IF YOUR GRANDFATHER HADN’T WORN IT, YOU WOULDN’T EXIST. Please bring it back!!!!!!!!

I like the smell of old spice, however, I cannot use it because it gives me rashes.

  • Posted by: William on December 24, 2009 at 1:22pm #

I agree with a lot of the others who left comments on the discontinuation of Mountain Rush. My questions are:
    1) Why would you discontinue such a popular scent with what sounds like a pretty solid fan base?
    2) Is there an alternative scent that smells similar to Mountain Rush that you think I would enjoy?

  • Posted by: Scott on December 27, 2009 at 6:08pm #

I am 26 and love the Classic Old Spice. I have tried most of the OS range and find the classic to be the best. I just love the smell. I use the body wash, after shave and the classic stick deodorant. Be cool to get the glass bottle of the classic. Even if it were only limited edition now and again. Being in the military and being away alot, OS is something that will help me and others recall good memories of home. Keep the classic for eternity.

  • Posted by: Tom on December 30, 2009 at 9:15am #

I wondered if the “classic” body spray would come back? I searched for it at many brick and internet stores and it was unavailable. Then I found out it had been discontinued. Why? As a loyal old spicer I was wondering if someone in your organization would have the smarts to bring it back. It is the smell that built your company and I like the body spray delivery. In my searchings throughout the internet I have seen many people that feel the same way I do. Many are disgruntled over the discontinuation. I went so far as to buy a partially used gift set that contained the “classic” body spray on ebay. Many said they would have bought a case if they had known it was to be discontinued. Bring it back!

  • Posted by: Scott K. on December 30, 2009 at 3:15pm #

Jim & admin (Old Spice Team), add me to the list, where’s my Classic Body Spray? The only reason I’m even leaving a comment is I hope that maybe the old adage will prevail – “The Squeaky Wheel”!

  • Posted by: Gerald on December 31, 2009 at 4:55pm #

Another vote for Mountain Rush. I used to panic whenever I couldn’t find it and then buy them three or four at a time. This is the ONLY product of yours I am interested in– I’m currently wearing Swagger, but when this stick runs out, I will be evaluating all my options.

And that means your competitors. I’ve already evaluated all of your deodorants and nothing comes close to Mountain Rush. EVERYONE loved the way it smelled on me, without exception. And now it’s gone.

Well, so am I. I’ll always keep an eye out should you decide to wake up and listen to your customers, but I won’t get my hopes up.

Any chance of getting Old Spice After Shave and Cologne in the traditional glass bottles during the holiday season?

  • Posted by: David Mcknight on January 7, 2010 at 1:22pm #

Went to Kroger today to buy some more of the Classic Body Wash, and saw that they were offering reduced prices on all of the Old Spice deo’s that were offered in various scents that were’nt selling at all.
The body wash section of Old Spice had an interesting hit of consumers particularly in the High Endurance fragrance, but the Classic seems to be a strong sellar as well.
On an Endcap was about 5 of the newest fragrances in a duo- limited edition 2 pack.
Also offered at a reduced price to move!
Its too bad they didnt have the Classic /Origional there or I might have bought 3 of them!

Agreeing with all the others about mountain rush, why discontinue a product that is selling so well? Put it back on the shelves and you’ll have so many more customers. It just doesn’t make sense. My husband loves that scent and since having met him, I myself have been using it as well. You’ve lost two semi-solid mountain rush loyals (as well as several scores of others it seems) PLEASE reinstate it. It’s a popular product. Listen to your customers. We’re the ones who write your paychecks.

  • Posted by: Nicolas on January 13, 2010 at 10:21pm #

Please bring back the Classic Body Spray. Pure Sport just doesn’t smell as good. I’m loathe to buy another scent because I’m hoping that if I hold onto my money then it might compel you to bring back the Classic Spray. I mean that respectfully. I’m in my mid twenties if you’re checking into the demographics.

Been looking for the original spray cologne for two years now. That’s how I ended up here – still looking! Never did like putting it on my hands first just to get it where I wanted it! ‘Splash’…is not as desirable, fast or efficient as ‘Spray’. I am truely dissappointed, and I vote for a comeback.

I am a business owner and if my customers were writing this many comments on my wed site about discontinuing a product like (Mountain Rush), I would hope that my “Old Spice Team” would bring it to my attention. I am also a Mountain Rush user and am VERY disappointed that this has been discontinued. Please reconsider your decision.

I’ve used the old spice classic scent after shave for over 20 years and think the scent has changed since going to the plastic bottle. The scent smells more powdery and the plastic bottle feels cheap. Please go back to the shulton formula and glass bottle.

  • Posted by: Nicholas on January 23, 2010 at 9:11pm #

I’ve been deployed for a few months, and since I’ve returned, I can’t seem to find Old Spice Pure Sport Deodorant Spray anywhere. I’ve visited Old Spice’s website and called all the retailers listed and none have this product. I wanted to know if it was discontinued. I’m a fan of deodorant sprays, so I guess I’ll just have to switch to Brut, or Mitchum, since they have good scents, which are deodorant sprays. It also seems like body sprays are taking over the Old Spice line, which is interesting, since it’s not deodorant, and isn’t made to keep your underarms dry.

  • Posted by: Fidel on January 24, 2010 at 10:51am #

Bring back Classic Cologne Spray in the glass bottle! Don’t try and fix something that is not broken. I’ve sampled the other Old Spice colognes and they just don’t measure up to the “Classic”.

I really dont understand how a company as large as P&G (who by the way started with a bar of soap that floats) can disregard as many cnsumer complaints about a dicontinued product as old spice original and classic spray. Just goes to show you they hire these Marketing “genuises” who dont know squat about real life experiences and pay them big bucks for losing millions on wanted products.

Mountain Rush, I hope you guys are listening to the masses, bring this sent back i have switched to degree because all the other old spice smells are not good. I used the red zone high endurance soft solid, after mountain rush was no longer carried smooth blast was ok but now that thats gone too i gave up and moved ship. so bring another customer back.

Man, instead of buying all that stock in GM, I should have bought a truckload of MOUNTAIN RUSH. I would be rich right now! I agree. Bring back the Mountain Rush. At it’s peak, I had the body wash, the deodorant, the body spray, and those little travel wipes, all in the M-R. It drove the women crazy I tell you!

I just found out that the Red Zone antiperspirant/deodorant in “After Hours” scent has been discontinued! This is my holy grail deodorant! It’s only been around for a couple of years and it’s my “holy grail” deodorant–everything else either doesn’t work or has a disgusting/overly strong fragrance.

Honestly, how could you do this to me?!

I love the fragrance and the nostalgic glass bottle. Hate the new plastic bottle. Goofy I know, but it goes along with giving order to the morning, alongside a cup of coffee.

I have since switched to Spice Club for Men, available at Family Dollar. Scent is great, staying power is less. It’s only $1.59 a bottle. If you want me back, put your product back in a glass bottle.

Likewise, bring back the mug soap.

Im 20’s years old and very upset with the way things are marketed today. I wish things were marketed as they were when my 80 year old grandfather was a young man. I purchased my first bottle of Old Spice at the local drug store in town, which at the time was still in the glass bottle. It seems as if Old Spice along with other brands, are trying to accommodate the younger generation. I wish you would keep the standard glass bottle, which when you handed over your money, actually felt as if you were truly receiving your money’s worth. Why put a product on the shelf that is in a plastic bottle and that is cheaper looking, with a higher price tag? Also, have noticed the change in the deodorant, the new packaging is less ounces than the old packaging and still cost the same. It would be nice if you would bring back the soap on a rope, along with talc. Some of us boy’s want to continue carrying on the same loyalty our father’s and grandfather’s established with your company along with still being a man/gentlemen. Please bring back these products. My question is, are you that money hungry to lose confidence in your consumer and the loyal base you had established through years of quality, to change your marketing to give less quality and bring in more money? I believe customer loyalty is still more important.

Oh dear what a shame.. I have been using Old Spice classic for 20 years, my father has been using it longer. Who was the bright spark who decided to discontinue the classic scent as a body spray? I absolutely love the classic scent and always get compliments from people asking “What are you wearing, it smells wonderful”. Needless to say my wife loves it and her father used to wear it too.
Taking away the classic scent (Or at least making it harder to find than honest car salesman) which made Old Spice so famous in the first place was a moronic, uneducated, nearsighted marketing fail.
I hate to sound so passionate but it a product I have come to depend on. I have tried other products from other companies and nothing comes close. (Even the compliments stopped after using other top known brands and scents)
Old Spice classic was a classic and long time seller for a reason.

I am certain the reintroduction of a full classic scented product line would do more for your business than all this other ’smell it and see’ marketing bull.

Needless to say I am still a loyal customer of Old Spice from the new razors (Which are fantastic I might add) the new shave foam and classic after shave. All I need is the body spray to really finnish off the whole package.

  • Posted by: Ben on February 11, 2010 at 3:30pm #

Might be fair to add I use the classic scent body wash too (Hard to find but findable) It’s really weird to throw off the whole scent when I use an aftershave, body wash and shaving foam that match just to mess it up with a different smelling deodorant.
Very odd marketing… maybe I should go put a ‘Honda’ badge on my ‘Harley’ huh?

I used Old Spice soft-solid red zone deoderant/antiperspirant for the last 12 yrs. This week I swith brands due to an initially drop of the scents I likes and now the totally drop of this line. I cannot find this deoderant anywhere and I travel a lot everywhere.

From what I have read, these deoderants were found to cause cancer in lab animals and rather than just post that on this site, “admin” just says ‘oh, we hope you like our new products.’

Thus, I guess we should all be lucky that they don’t offer these any more and hope we don’t develop cancer at a later date from being loyal to the brand in the past.

Its a pleasure to be able to get in touch with someone from oldspice.I am a George Formby society uke player and have been brought up with those little white bottles of that fantastic smell of oldspice.I hope it survives all this resession cr*p and lives forever. This scent is far better than any of that sh**e sold today.Long live oldspice Jonathan Liverpool.

I have enjoyed old spice products since i found them in my fathers bathroom as a child. Now as a father myself i am buying my own. However after i shower and apply deodorant my armpits begin dripping, its not hot in my house, and they dont normally do that. any ideas?

Please bring back the original formula Classic scent cologne, and sell it in a quality glass bottle (for which I would gladly pay the cost difference).

I have been a loyal Old Spice user for almost 20 years, and still am. Yet it dismays me to see the recent unavailability/discontinuation of this and other Classic items. Innovation is great, but don’t leave history in the dust!

I have used the old spice soft solid aqua reef since it was introduced when I was 15. When I noticed that stores started stop caring this sent in the soft solid I started going online. Now I cant even find it online. I dont want to use any other sent. Is there any way to have this product brought back or if I can make a specialty order?

  • Posted by: Jim Craig on March 2, 2010 at 1:53pm #

BRING BACK MOUNTAIN RUSH!! I’ve had little luck with women since you took that scent off of the shelves. Just kidding, but in all seriousness, bring it back. Look at how many people are actually taking the time to write about it on the internet. Just bring it back already! Nothing else even comes close.

  • Posted by: michele on March 3, 2010 at 4:12am #

I’ve been to 20 different stores looking for your pure sport cologne and I was not able to find it anywhere, except at one CVS where I purchased a half empty can.. this is super disappointing, and I hope you haven’t and don’t discontinue it. It is by far my favorite scent and one that brings back tons of memories. Please please please start distributing pure sport back into stores.. PLEASE! And thank you.. :]

  • Posted by: Joe on March 3, 2010 at 10:03am #

I am having the same problem as Michele. I have looked all over for Old Spice Pure Sport cologne and can not find it. I have even searched for it online to no avail. I don’t understand why the cologne is advertised in the products section of this website if it is not available anymore. I know you guys update the products as I have noticed the new Fiji, Denali, Etc. deodorants. If you have discontinued the Pure Sport cologne, I beg you to reconsider.

I am another that want Mountain Rush back on the market.

  • Posted by: zach on March 4, 2010 at 6:55pm #

I am a huge fan of Mountain Rush deoderant. I have used Pure Sport since I could not find Mountain Rush for the last few months. It’s not nearly as good. Now that I know that it’s discontinued for good, I’m going to start trying other brands to find a new favorite. Email me if things change.

One idea: Even if you don’t sell it at stores, you could still sell it exclusively online. That way it doesn’t take up shelf space, but loyal customers don’t feel betrayed.

  • Posted by: Jerry on March 4, 2010 at 8:27pm #

I have been using an Old Spice After Shave Talcum which I had in my medicine chest for years. It’s terrific. I was wondering if this product is available and, if not, when it was last produced. It is in a glass bottle.

  • Posted by: Vsem on March 5, 2010 at 9:45am #

I hate companies like yours. After using Mountain Rush for the last 9 years you guys suddenly discontinue it. Can you at least get a press release out about it? Let the consumer know a month or two ahead of time??? What’s wrong with a little logic in dealing with your consumers?

  • Posted by: Marc on March 6, 2010 at 4:44am #

Here’s my theory. You won’t bring back MOUNTAIN RUSH because plain and simple I doubt the scent can be made in the PRO STRENGTH (double the price) or it already would have been. By limiting customers options in the Regular Semi Solid and making sure that the Same Scents are avaiable in the overcharged Professional Strength versions customers may be seduced into buying the DOUBLE THE PRICE, higher profit, same cost to make, PRO VERSIONS you offer. Here’s my point. You say try Game Day instead. I mean really ….come on. The game day scent is not even offered in the semi solid. WHY??? If it’s a close match don’t you offer it in that form, and why would you take MOUNTAIN RUSH off of the shelves if so many people obviously love and want it back. It can’t be that the MR rush didn’t sell well, cause it’s obvious here by the complaints that it more than did and the shelves around here always seemed to be empty. If you notice the MRush scent was never offered in the Pro Strength versions that OLD SPICE double charged for. The only difference between the semi solid and pro strength versions was a 1% increase in Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex GLY up from 19% in the regular semi solid to 20% in the professional strength versions. So my guess is that the sweeter smell of the Mountain Rush scent when you add the 1% GLY must have somehow changed the fragrance from the orginal. Otherwise you would have offered the MR scent in the Pro (double the price versions) because that scent had to be one of you best sellers plus there would have been the opportunity to make double the profit just by adding the word PRO and 1% GLY for your business. So If I’m wrong please give some other explantion as to why Mountain Rush was Discontinued other than try a different scent (that’s called Deflecton). Please explain why the store shelves were always sold out of the that scent yet you don’t sell it anymore. Please offer an explantion as to why MRush was nevered offered in the PRO (overpriced) Strength versions, and as to why even now the alternative you mentioned Game Day is only offered in a Dedorant and not in the normal performance solid. I dislike deception, as well any company limiting my choices in an effort to sell me an over priced labeled pro strength version. Most of all I dislike companies that don’t listen to thier customers who are the same people that write your paychecks. Moutain Rush was a scent that a lot of people obviously seemed to enjoy and that always seemed to be sold out of stores. Don’t give us a product and let us like and get use to it, and then turn around and take it way just because it may get in the way of your over priced Pro Strength Stuff. I’m not found of this type of buinsess so I hope someone here is listening. I hate the new stuff and I’ve since changed brands. I rather try another brand/scent from another company than being forced to live without a product by a company that I’ve given a lot of money to in the last number of years. Seems like deception to me. FIX IT!

  • Posted by: Michael on March 10, 2010 at 8:13pm #

PLEASE bring back Mountain Rush! I’m on my last stick (after stick piling) and it’s honestly the ONLY men’s deodorant I truly enjoy. I really have a hard time bearing any other scents, including other Old Spice scents. I switched to Old Spice BECAUSE of Mountain Rush and stuck with it for years until I’ve no longer been able to find it… I really don’t want to have to switch brand!!

Please don’t suggest another scent… I’ve smelled them all and I’m leaving this post because I know what I like and I like Mountain Rush!

    PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

I’ve used old spice aftershave since I began shaving. I still use my original gillette speedmaster double edge razor and cup and brush lather. This product in the plastic bottles is not the same. It’s really a shame that you proctor and gamble ended up with the brand. Your new commercials are mildly disturbing. I just chucked my plastic bottled product in the can. Another tradition lost. Proctor and Gamble sucks. I won’t use any of your products again.

Your Classic Old Spice scent was the topic of our family’s dinner dicussion last week and the men in our family think your decision to “MOVE ON” to more “Modern” scents was a huge mistake! The old Spice scent has been a standard gift for our men at Christmas,Father’s day and of course birthdays. Our little guys learned to faux shave with their dads and grampas with this product. It is or was a right of passage to receive it for our 13 year olds. We believe this was a seriously bad decision on your companies part! Please undo this bad decision.

  • Posted by: Tim on March 18, 2010 at 5:37am #

Add me to the loyal customers who are disappointed by the discontinuation of the Mountain Rush scent. I’ve tried Game Day, and it’s not very close at all. Maybe P&G will see the light and add a ‘limited time’ marketing campaign, where it’s available a few times a year. That would allow us to stock up – while retaining brand loyal customers. Unfortunately it probably won’t happen…the huge faceless company usually has their own agenda!

We have been trying to find Aqua Reef soft solid for my husband and sons for several months now. We live in New Orleans, and I don’t know whether it is the hot humid weather here, but the other scents are simply too strong. And frankly, they need an antiperspirant, not just a deodorant. We have tried many retailers here, but cannot find it. Can you please help us? Neither the drugstores nor Walmart, K-mart, Target, etc., seem to know what has happened; they have mentioned it to their suppliers, who also do not know what has happened. It is apparently very popular, but no one has it. Can you help?

(please do not use my whole name in the post – many thanks).

I’m guessing (and very sad) that classic scent antiperspirant has been discontinued. This is the only anti-persp I have ever worn as all others give me a headache. 22 years of classic antiperspirant. I’ve given the others a smell. I just found some in a small out of the way store. I’ll be stocking up. Please bring my deodorant back.

Old Spice must have had something going for it for P&G to buy it in the early ’90s??? If so, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU CHANGE IT? I just bought 3 bottles of cologne in the FANCY SHINY RED BOXES and thought the price had gone up. Boy, was I surprised to take the first one out and it was in CRAPPY PLASTIC!!!!–then, I don’t care what you tell me, IT DOES NOT SMELL THE SAME—Whether you have changed the formula or it’s the plastic, the fact is the same-IT SMELLS DIFFERENT!! I have been using Old Spice since my Grandparents used to give it to me for Christmas in the ’50s. This stuff used to last all day and used to burn like hell even thru the ’80s. I have yet to see a comment telling your marketing boys they have done a good job and improved the original Old Spice fragrance. YEAH, THE ONE THAT HAD BEEN AROUND FOR LIKE 60 YEARS!!! Pull your marketing head out of your…..SAND before it’s too late. UNBELIEVABLE. I would really like to hear from somebody in your marketing dept reply. Got the Guts? Sincerely, Greg H. Ward–I’ll be watching. Probably won’t be buying any more OLD SPICE in the future (ending family buying habits after approximately 60 or more years). And, I think I will also try to avoid other P&G products just for the hell of it….

  • Posted by: kris on March 26, 2010 at 11:52pm #

SHULTON’S Old Spice Formula was much more rich and poignant in spice. P&G DID REFORMULATE OLD SPICE “ORIGINAL” IN THE EARLY NINETIES. BRING BACK SHULTON’S FORMULA! P&G WILL NOT REGRET IT.

I agree with this guy, and if Old Spice did something like this I would buy a metric ton of it…and then another metric ton before the “limited time” was run out.

Please consider doing a line of “nostalgia” products…Shulton formula glass bottle after shave, cologne, shaving talc and the shaving soap. I think this would enhance the strength of the Old Spice brand. The buzz generated by a limited edition release around the holidays would be phenomenal.

  • Posted by: Neil on April 11, 2010 at 2:34am #

I felt compelled to say that I think your marketing campaign this year has been brilliant. I have not been in the past, and am fast becoming a loyal customer. Thanks for the great commercials.

  • Posted by: DannyBoy on April 12, 2010 at 10:00am #

My father always used Old Spice, probably because my Mother loved it! I always loved the fragrance too. When I started shaving Old Spice was my favorite for many years , but I gradually moved away to other brands.
Lately though, I guess I’ve grown nostalgic, and started longing for that old familiar smell. I stopped by the store and bought a bottle. I have to tell you, I was very disappointed. This is NOT the same fragrance I used to use, it’s very different from the Old Spice of yesteryear.
I don’t like the new smell! ….And what is with the Plastic Bottles and the New Logo?? Terrible!
You guys are Missing the Boat!
Seriously, there are a whole lot of Boomers like me that are feeling nostalgic and looking for something familiar from the past. If you give us the Old Original Version of the product we grew up with, complete with the Grand Turk, and/or Friendship on a GLASS Bottle, you would have another wave of a very loyal following. I wouldn’t even mind paying more for the original version to cover the cost of the GLASS, and more expensive ingredients. Even paying double would be fine if I could just get that classic scent!
Bring back the old Soap on a Rope, and the Shaving Mugs with the richly scented Old Spice Shaving Soap! …Yes. Wet shaving is making a comeback! Just try to buy a classic Gillette Fat Boy Razor On eBay! I saw one sell for $256 a few days ago! People will pay that much, because it’s Old Fashioned Quality, and 100% Original!
As it is now, I returned your product to the store and got my money back. Guess I’ll hit eBay and look for some new old stock.
It’s too bad some companies just don’t understand that people will always come back to quality!

Over the past year I’ve seen Mountain Rush supplies dwindle and finally, in Seattle, no one carries it any more. I’ve been using it for as long as it’s existed. 10 years? Women always commented on how good I smelled. And it didn’t irritate my skin. PLEASE BRING MOUNTAIN RUSH BACK! It’s simply the best.

I adore the guy in the “Manly Test” commercial…I know the “man your man can smell like (Mustafa) is getting all the attention right now, but PLEASE tell me who THIS guy is…he looks like the Wilsons – maybe a brother of Luke/Owen? I can think of a few other “manly situations” to test Old Spice – I really need a name to call out during my fantasies. Thanks!

Bring back the shaving soap! Wet shaving is becoming very popular and good soap is hard to find.

  • Posted by: Thom on April 17, 2010 at 1:41pm #

I am 42 years old and have been an old fashion mug and brush shaver. I still have the OS mug my father gave me when I started to shave. I enjoyed shaving with that mug and the OS soap untill it was discontiued in the early 90s. Every once in a while I will find the soap on ebay and go nuts for that missed feeling. No other mug soap is the same as the OS mug soap. Given the need to recycle and keep things green I would have hoped that mug shaving would make a comeback. More importantly that OS would lead the way in this tradition shared for centuries with our fathers of old. I would hope that OS would strongly consider bringing back some of their old standards in their old styles if only for Christmas as a limited release each year. From reading above I know I am not the only one who misses these items.

I’ve been looking all over for the Classic scent Body Spray and just found out it has been discontinued.
Old habbits die hard I guess and I’ve been using Old Spice Classic deoderant for over 40 years. The wording on the can said “If your grandfather hadn’t used this you wouldn’t be here.”
It makes no sense to me (and evidently to about a hundered other people here that took the effort to Google a DEODERANT) that P&G would buy a product that has GENERATIONS of users and discontinue the signature product just to mess with the brand name.
If the marketing morons at P&G really think that people will be clamoring for “Pure Sport” 50 years from now like we are for the CLASSIC scent then it is the P&G brand that is in trouble.
Return our Old Spice to the shelves.

When is Old Spice going to come up with a natural product. No synthetic scents or chemicals. Something that is least likely to cause a problem when absorbed into the body. Especially when they have surfaced with non use of air freshners because of with their combination of the ozone and air the harsh chemicals that are formed like formeldhyde. This was announced by Healthier clean Schools organization. A Natural Buck Lure scent would be nice.

I see that Old Spice has stopped making the classic round stick deodorant, something they have made since 1963.Another terrible decision ! Please bring it back in the classic white round container with the old ship like it was from 1963 to 1980.And how about making some limited editions with the Lime and Burley aftershaves and colognes and soaps in glass bottles with the old ships for us oldtimers or soap on a rope or bar soap in the classic scent and the shaving soap or classic scent old spice shampoo and body talc and shaving mugs with the old ships.Since Shulton sold Old Spice it’s gone downhill every year.Listen to the old guys and bring the old products back with the old ships, even for a limited time.I guarantee you they will sell. And if you don’t believe me check ebay and see how well they sell.Old Spice in plastic bottles ! Sad to see what happened to a once great company who forgot their loyal customers.Whatever happened to tradition? I guess i’ll have to buy English Leather or Brut if i want the round stick.Very disappointed.

  • Posted by: Shawn on May 15, 2010 at 10:12am #

I have been using Old Spice products for years, but just recently I have started getting a rash, the product in question is the ‘Red Zone Swagger’ deodorant, which I’ve used before also. Is there something that Old Spice has changed in their formula’s recently, or is the ‘Red Zone’ line the culprit? I’d like to know so I can either choose a non ‘Red Zone’ product, or potentially switch altogether.

Please bring back Old Spice Classic Body Spray. As much as I love it my wife loves it even more. I have one can left which I use to lightly spray her pillow with before I leave on travel. Tried the others/what’s left and they do nothing for either of us. Nothing else will do. Seems like a recurring plea throughout these 273 comments along with possibly Mountain Rush. We can’t all be wrong….. Maybe it wasnt the product that was lacking (I’m certain of that) as opposed to the marketing campaign/strategy. Seems to me you introduced quite a few products within a very narrow time-frame. Food for thought at least. I’ve been using Old Spice products for well over 40 years. I grew up smelling it first thing in the morning on my Dad. Please put the “spice” back in our lives, please!

I can no longer find Classic Sick Original scent anti-perspirant/deoderant. A few years back I had the same delimma and tried several of your other scents which burned the crap out of my arm pits. I finally found Classic stick original again in my local winco stores. I have been using this same anti-perspirant/deoderant for the last 32 years. I just went in to buy more at my local Winco grocery store and found they no longer have a spot for it on there shelves. can you tell me has it been discontinued? If so do you have another stick with the same ingredients? I dont want to have to keep buying and trying new anti-perspirant/deoderants to find out which ones wont burn my armpits. If it is discontinued why in the world you let your long time customers down. I have been a customer since I was 13 years old and now I am 52. Please help me find more of this product. Thanks John

The ONLY product that should have the name OLD SPICE is the classic scent. Everything else is just another smell.PU. If you’re going to can classic then stop pussyfootin and do it. Sell me the rights to the scent so real men (and women) can have what they REALLY want. Not 800 different scents. And it would be nice to have soap, shave cream, aftershave/balm and deodorant available in the same scent. Remember, there is only ONE Old Spice and that’s Classic. NO OTHER SCENT COMES CLOSE OR DESERVES TO WEAR THE NAME OLD SPICE!! P&G,You just don’t care about what the customer desires. My fellow Spice heads it is time to speak up!!!

Another vote to bring back the Original Scent in body spray. Not having it is losing you customers; you’ve already lost this one.

Are you all still making the deck scrubber? I have tried a couple of places and can’t locate it..

    Thanks

I am a 55 year old newlywed. While engaged, I was able to find my fiance the Old Spice spray cologne on ebay and bought two bottles. IT REALLY, REALLY upsets me that you don’t make it anymore. It is the ONLY thing he likes to wear. To spend $30 for it on ebay annoys me, because you have so many people asking for the same product. Please keep me posted and, if you re-issue, please keep the price affordable! Thanks so much!

I totally agree with RO, if you are not interested in making Old Spice Classic anymore, please consider selling the rights to manufacture it somewhere else (in glass bottles). You have thousands of customers begging to buy and are willing to pay a premium price for it. The business case here is a no-brainer. Please get in touch!!

So, what happened to the OS Signature fragrance that was introduced a couple of years ago. Why has it been discontinued. I use it daily, and continue to get it on ebay, but probably not for long. Thanks

I started using OS deodorant and shortly after I got the most excruciatingly painful rash. Not knowing where it came from, I continued to use OS until I couldn’t move my arms without pain. I stopped using the deodorant and the rash is quickly going away. One quick glance at google and I saw that I am only 1 of hundreds of people who have received chemical burns. Needless to say, I will never use this product again and I discourage others from doing so as well.

This afternoon I ordered a bottle of Old Spice Classic cologne, remembering it from the old days. A couple of hours later I learned the stupid act of P&G to “optimize” their expenses replacing the glass bottle with a plastic one. I never thought the Americans are big in the style and culture field, but now simply said to myself: “Why to accuse all the Americans and what I wonder to? P&G are in the industrial chemistry, they are not in the perfumery. Cologne, dish washing or agriculture is the same for them aesthetically.”

I’ll refuse the order, of if it’s not possible, will give the bottle to someone who doesn’t care what perfume he wears.

No one will allow to himself that with the bottle in France or in England.

It’s a big luck that P&G hadn’t bought Blue Stratos. It was Shulton’sq too.

i also used old spice classic body spray and other classic products. i ran out of my body spray a few weeks ago and am very upset to see that it has been discontinued. seeing the glass bottle go away hurts a little also. until you decide to bring back the classic body spray you have lost another customer.

Please bring back Mountain Rush!!! It is easily your best scent and you will gain back many customers by reinstating it.

Please bring back Old Spice the way it was many years ago. The plastic container kills everything. Also the strong scent it had many years ago has been diluted. Old Spice also made a Cologne called Night Spice plz bring it back. I still have a mini bottle I keep just to smell it from time to time, ladies loved the way it made a man smell. Also please bring back the soap on a rope, and talc these were great items why did you take them away? Please do not let an icon like Old Spice as it was before be melded by the so called change of today.”GENERIC PRODUCTS” I think is the term I’m searching for. Remember the old saying he who perseveres will triumph in the end. Your sales will soar and every man will once again be proud to wear Old Spice products. Oh please take away the Old Spice Body Wash, it does not do the original soap on a rope justice. One last thing Old Spice Deodorant causes a big time time rash on the armpits. I can only use Degree deodorant. Find their formula spice it up with Old Spice scent, and you will have a customer for life.

I live in Iran and I hade received an Old Spice deodorant with the scent of MUSK, a gift from my uncle after a journey to US (about mid 90’s). It had an outstanding smell as lots of men and women approved. After running out, I have searched a lot and not be able to find anything like that. Nowadays, I use oldspice pure and sport smell but they aren’t comparable to MUSK. It was outstanding. I am sure it would be very popular, if it is produced again. We should make a campaign and motivate the oldspice to produce it again.

    Team,

There must be some reason that a company like P&G won’t listen to their customers when enough of them are asking for the re-instatement of a product (i.e. Musk) that could increase market share . Perhaps there’s an “animal activist” ingredient issue. Perhaps you’re just large enough.

Although you claim to have been unaware of the popular Musk scents offered by your predecessors, it is obvious the “Musk for Men” T-shirt for sale on your very own site at:
    http://store.oldspice.com/p-15-musk-for-men-t-shirt.aspx

indicates an acknowledgement by your company of the product’s popularity.

I also stopped purchasing colognes offered by P&G when they stopped offering the Musk. I had never before received so many compliments from women about a scent. To coin a relatively popular advertisement from an auto manufacturer,
“This was not your father’s aftershave.”

I won’t waste my breath asking for something you’re not willing to reproduce. You’re obviously not taking requests.

    Peace.

When will the world know once again that Old Spice is the Mark of Man? It seems the younger crowd have forgotten…
