Old Spice Deodorant / Anti-perspirant Products:
Anti-perspirant or deodorant...which one should I use?
Here's the deal: anti-perspirants help control wetness, deodorants help control odor. So, if you're a non-sweater and just want to squelch the funk, go with the deodorant. Otherwise, try an anti-perspirant. And, not to worry, all of the Old Spice anti-perspirants do double duty as deodorants.
What causes odor?
Blame it on the bacteria! Sweat starts out nearly odorless, but is quickly broken down by bacteria on your skin to produce that special underarm aroma. Why the armpits, you wonder? Those bacteria thrive in warm, wet, environments. Also, there are particular types of sweat glandscalled apocrine glandsthat are only found in a few areas, such as the armpit. Sweat from the apocrine glands is much more...odorous...than that produced by the more common types of sweat glands.
How do deodorants and anti-perspirants work?
Our Old Spice Classic and High Endurance deodorants neutralize odor by killing the odor-causing bacteria on your skin, and by leaving a fragrance behind that keeps you smelling good all day. Our anti-perspirants go to work in your sweat ducts to prevent sweat from reaching the surface of the skin. Less sweat, less sweaty smell. Sweet.
OK...so I've got this stuff. Now, what do I do with it?
We understand. It's against human nature to read directions, but we put them on the package anyway. So, for best results, follow the directions. Want it in a nutshell? If you're using an Old Spice Soft Solid, two clicks are all you need for the perfect amount to keep you dry and smelling great. Using an Old Spice Solid? A few light, even strokes will do it. You might also want to take a moment to check out your pecs in the mirror before getting dressed. With Old Spice Aerosol, give it a good shake first. Then, hold the can about 6 inches from the target (pits only, please) and spray yourself for two seconds.
Can I build up a tolerance to deodorants or anti-perspirants?
Sir, no, sir! You can't build up a tolerance or become immune to a deodorant or anti-perspirant. So, when you find something you like, stick with it. |
